Chapter 1: A Campus Welcome.

Three days have passed since Prince Ash left the Kingdom of Kanto, sailing to Celesta Island. Though sometimes Ash and Pikachu would be a little bored on the HMS Legacy, they also had some fun having Pokémon battles with the crew, watching wild Water Pokémon swim in the water with Sir Brock, Sir Gary, and Squire Max who accompanied Ash as his escorts to the island, or even joining the men and their Pokémon in singing sailing songs like Randy Dandy-o, Good morning ladies all, Fish in the sea and Leave her Johnny (Though Sir Brock would be very enthusiastic in singing Good morning ladies all).

As the Legacy continues sailing the open sea with the Wingulls and Pelippers soaring overhead, Ash stands in the ship’s crow’s nest staring at the vast ocean with his cape blowing in the wind and Pikachu on his shoulder. Just the mere thought of the fact that he’s going to become a Pokémon Sorcerer sent a twinge of excitement building up inside of Ash.

“Just think buddy,” He said to his partner. “we’re gonna have so much fun at the academy.”
“Pika pika.” Pikachu agreed.
“I sure hope we get there soon though.” Ash said as he sighed. “Celesta Island must be pretty far.”

It was then when they heard the voice of Captain Briney from the helm down below.

“Steady as she goes, men!” He called out, “With this wind, we should be able to reach Celesta Island in two days time.”
“Wingull!” replied Captain Briney’s precious and beloved Wingull, Peeko, who was happily perched on Captain Briney’s shoulder.
“Did you hear that, Pikachu? We’ll be there in just two days!” The prince said with increased excitement as he climbed the rope ladder back down to the deck. He then made his way towards the two knights and the squire, who were staring at a group of Mantyke and Mantine swimming just below the water’s surface on the ship’s starboard side.

“Hey guys.” He greeted.
"Hey sire.” They all replied as they faced him.
“So Ash, are you looking forward to arriving on Celesta Island?” Asked Sir Brock.
“You bet I am!” Ash said as he clenched his hands in determination. “I just can’t wait to learn to become a Pokémon Sorcerer.”
“Just think of all the spells you’ll be learning!” Max said with excitement.
“I’ll bet that you’ll be learning a lot of spells from the eighteen Pokémon types.” commented Sir Gary.
“I know I’ll have plenty to learn, but I’m still excited all the same. I know I’ll be a great Pokémon Sorcerer.” Ash said with determination.
“That’s the spirit, your majesty. Well, I better get to the galley and start working on tonight’s dinner.” Said Sir Brock as he walked away from the group and went below deck. The others went back to staring at the Pokémon in the water.

Unknown to the entire crew, the Legacy has a group of Poké-stowaways hiding in the cargo hold. The Pichu Bros. and their friends, Magby, Whooper, Smoochum, Teddiursa, Cleffa and Tyrogue are sitting around in a circle in a secluded spot within the pile of crates having some berries that they packed for lunch.

“I heard some of the humans say we’ll be at the island in two days.” Said Magby.
“I just can’t wait to get to that island and explore.” Said Pichu Little.
“Me too.” Said Cleffa. “I’ll bet we’ll make a lot of new friends on the island. What do you think, Smoochum?”
Smoochum didn’t answer however since she got up from her seat a while ago and was pacing around with a nervous expression on her face.

“Something wrong, Smoochum?” Asked Magby.
Oh, I misplaced my mirror somewhere and I can’t find it anywhere! I need to check on my beauty!” Smoochum said in a slight panic.
“Smoochum, you look great now. You can look for your mirror later.” Suggested Teddiursa.
“I know, but I need something that would show my reflection to make sure.” Said Smoochum. “If I don’t find something that shows my reflection soon, I’ll go crazy!”
“I can help look for your mirror, Smoochum.” Cleffa said. ”Does anyone want to help?”
“I’ll help out!” Whooper volunteered before he and Cleffa left the group to find the mirror.
Smoochum then sees a porthole above a small crate and gets an idea.
“Smoochum, what are you doing?” Pichu Big asked in a questioning tone as he and the others watch Smoochum begin to climb on the first crate.
“You’re not gonna see your entire reflection through that small window.” Said Pichu Little.
“I know.” Replied Smoochum. “I’m gonna bend over a little bit outside and check my reflection in the water.” Her plan made the boys gasp in fear.
“Are you crazy?!” Exclaimed Magby. “You’ll go overboard!”
Yeah and you can’t see your reflection in the water while the ship is moving at a great speed.” Added Tyrogue. “Please Smoochum, don’t do this!”

Smoochum didn’t listen to their warnings however as she opened the porthole and bent halfway out. She was disappointed when the water didn’t even show her reflection at all due to the ship sailing too fast. She was about move her head back inside when she suddenly lost her balance and was now dangling on the porthole by her waist.

“Help me! I’m gonna fall!” She screamed.
“Smoochum!” The boys yelled as they sprang into action.

They climbed to the top of the crate and stood right behind Smoochum’s swaying feet. Pichu big managed to grab a hold on Smoochum’s left foot while Pichu Little held onto his brother’s shoulders and Magby grabbed Smoochum’s right foot while Teddiursa held onto Magby’s shoulders. Tyrouge held his left hand on Pichu Little and his right hand on Teddiursa.

“Alright guys on the count of three, pull!” Pichu Big ordered.
“Right!” The others replied.

“One… Two… Three. PULL!!!”

The boys pulled Smoochum’s feet with all their might. Smoochum was struggling not to fall into the water as she felt her feet being pulled from the other side. With their combined efforts and Tyrogue’s strength, the boys managed to yank Smoochum back into the ship with such force, they all fell off the crates and onto the floor.

“Boy, that was close.” Breathed an exhausted Teddiursa.
“No kidding.” Agreed Tyrogue. “I’m just glad no one even heard us since they were all too busy singing.”
“Oh, thank you! You saved me!” Smoochum said gratefully as she went over and gave each of the boys a big kiss on both cheeks, much to their embarrassment.
“Smoochum!” sounded the voice of Cleffa. “We found your mirror!”
“Thanks, guys!” Smoochum said as she went over to her best friend to retrieve her mirror.
Whooper went over to the rest of the boys and was confused when he sees them lying on the floor with kiss marks on their cheeks.
“What happened to you guys?” He asked in curiosity.
“Please don’t ask.” they all groaned in unison.

That night, as the Legacy continues sailing under the starlit sky, much of the crew went to the mess for supper. They enjoyed Sir Brock’s famous vegetable stew that he cooked in the afternoon while Pikachu and the Pokémon belonging to the knights and the crew are also enjoying their food prepared by Brock as well.

“Superb!” Complimented Captain Briney he took a sip. “Are you sure you’re just the captain of the royal knights? This tastes like it’s been made the royal cook.”
“Oh no, Cilan and his brothers, Chili and Cress are the royal cooks and they’re back home in the kingdom.” Informed Sir Gary.
“Cooking is just one of Sir Brock’s hobbies that he enjoys.” Said Ash. “Along with Cilan, his brothers and even Clemont, the royal blacksmith, Brock is one of the best when it comes to cooking.”
“The food tastes even better when all five of them cook together.” Said Max.
“Is that so? Well young man, you have quite a talent with cooking indeed.” Said Briney.
“Thanks. Glad you all like it.” Said Brock. “So eat up, cause there’s still plenty to go around. And, if anyone wants some tea, I’ve prepare a special herbal blend.”
“So Captain Briney, are you sure we’ll be in Celesta Island in two days?” The Prince asked.
“Aye, certainly Sire.” The captain kindly replied. “Today is Wednesday, so if the Legacy keeps sailing east like the counselor instructed us with this speed, we’ll be at the island by Friday morning.”
“That’s good to know.” Ash said.
“So I hear that you’re off to the island to study to become a Pokémon Sorcerer at the Academy?” asked Briney.
“That’s right.” replied the prince. “For two whole years like the invitation said. Apparently, I’m going to be their first royal student to attend the school.”
“Well, that’s going to be quite an achievement, your majesty.” Briney commented. “I’m certain you’ll do fine in your classes.”
“Thanks, captain. I appreciate your support.” Ash said before he yawned. “Well, I think I’ll head to my cabin and go to bed. Goodnight, guys.”
“Goodnight, sire.” They replied as the prince leaves the mess to head for his cabin with Pikachu in tow.

Unknown to everyone aboard the Legacy, they were being followed. A small distance behind the ship was a small sail-less wooden boat carved in the shape of a Relicanth. Because the boat has no sail, it had to be pedalled by three people to move. Pedaling the boat were Team Riot, who’ve been secretly following the Legacy since it left the kingdom for the past three days.

“Aha! Prince Twerp and Pikachu sighted! Full speed ahead!” Jessie announced as she spied on the sleepy Prince Ash and Pikachu walking on the ship’s deck through her telescope while pedalling.
“Can’t it be no speed ahead? I'm pooped! My feet are killing me!” Whined James, who was sitting behind Jessie and pedalling at a much slower and sluggish speed.
“Meowth too. I don’t tink I can go on another full night of pedalling.” Meowth groaned as he pedalled behind James. The both stopped pedalling and slumped on their handlebars in exhaustion.
“AH! They’re getting away!” yelled Jessie as she sees the Legacy sailing further away from their boat. She then whacked James and Meowth on their heads with her paper fan. “Now stop complaining and start pedalling!” She commanded.
“But Jessie, we’ve been pedalling nonstop in the sea following the twerp for the past three days!” Complained James as he and Meowth began pedalling again.
“Well we can’t just sit around back at the mainland while the prince is away for two whole years.” She reminded. “If we don’t deliver Pikachu, the rest of the prince’s Pokémon or any other rare Pokémon to the boss fast, he’s going to kick us all off Team Riot for good!”
“That’s ridiculous!” Retorted James. “The boss can’t just discard me like an old shoe.”
“We gotta capture Pikachu dis time or da boss is gonna give us all da boot!” said Meowth.
Just then, they all heard a familiar jingling sound.
“Huh? Did I just hear a coin from somewhere?” Wondered Jessie.
“I hoid it too and it’s comin' from him!” Meowth exclaimed as he pointed from James who flinched in fear.
Meowth then leapt off of his seat and onto James’ face.
“So! You’ve been holdin out on us huh?” Meowth questioned as James tried to get Meowth off. “Cough it up!”
James struggled to get Meowth off so hard, that a small object fell out of his pocket and onto the floor. Meowth then got off of James’ face to take a look.
“Hey, dis ain't a coin it’s just some kind of bottle cap.” He said upon inspection.
Suddenly, James thrusts himself onto the floor, snatching the bottle cap from Meowth’s paw and is now covering it with his body as if it were a priceless treasure.
“I couldn’t LIVE without a single one of my most very extra special, favorite, limited-edition, vintage bottle cap from my collection!” He exclaimed.
“AHH!!! They’re getting away again!” Jessie screamed as she whacked James and Meowth once more and they went back to pedalling their boat to catch up with the Legacy.

A little further behind Team Riot, a small raft with a single sail was sailing behind the two vessels. The raft’s only known passenger is a lone Jigglypuff holding a black paintbrush. Jigglypuff is too well known throughout the kingdom for causing people to fall asleep whenever they her sing. She then gets mad, and paints scribbles and markings on the faces of her victims with her paintbrush, thinking that it might teach them a lesson. Now, Jigglypuff is secretly following the Legacy to Celesta Island, hoping to find an audience that won’t fall asleep and listen to her performance.

“Jiggly Jigglypuff!” The Balloon Pokémon squeaked in excitement as she continued sailing.

Though the crew has seen some more Pokémon soaring in the sky or swimming in the water, not much has happened over the next two days. The air became cooler as the Legacy continued sailing. We now find the ship sailing the night before their assumed arrival on Celesta Island. Prince Ash had finished his dinner and decided to take in some fresh air before he went to bed. He could feel the excitement increasing even more as he stood on the bow with Pikachu.

“Just think buddy, we’ll be at the island at dawn. Isn’t that great?” He excitedly asked his partner.
“Pikachu Pikapi!” Pikachu replied with an excited smile.
“Who knows what lies in store for us for the next two years?” He wondered as he stared out into the sea under the starlit sky. “I don’t know what’s gonna happen but I know this, we’ll have the time of our lives on the island. We’ll make a lot of new friends and best of all, you, me and the rest of my Pokémon will be together all the way.”
“Pika!” Pikachu squealed, touched by Ash’s words as he leapt off the railing and into the prince’s arms and nuzzled his cheek against his chest in affection and hugging him as tight as his little arms could.
“Thanks Pikachu, you’re the best.” Ash said warmly as he hugged his best friend back.
Ash then turned around when he suddenly heard the knights and the rest of the crew finishing up a song with their Pokémon.
“Hey, how about we go over and join in the fun before we hit the sack, huh, buddy?” He asked.
“Pika Pika!” Pikachu accepted and together they made their way to the center of the deck and after singing a few songs with everyone, they went to their cabins. Ash then changed into his sleepwear and tucked himself in with Pikachu. They said goodnight to each other and instantly fell asleep.

“LAND HO!!!”

Ash and Pikachu awoke the next morning to the sound of the lookout shouting at having the island in his sights. Ash excitedly sprang out of bed an quickly changed into his regular clothing. He and Pikachu left their cabin and out into the early morning sun. The entire ship was bustling with activity as the whole crew were making preparations to dock. Ash made is way towards the bow and was amazed as he caught a glimpse of the island.

It was a fairly large island with some mountains that towered over the landscape. Some of mountains are mostly rocky while others are covered with trees. A large town stands near the shores of the island. Towering over the town on a hill stands a large castle with brownstone bricks and red tiled rooftops. Ash couldn’t believe his eyes as he gazed at the island ahead.

“There it is, Pikachu... Celesta Island.” Said the prince.
“Pikachu.” Pikachu replied with a nod.

A large crowd of people gathered to the docks as they see the large ship arriving to their shores. All of them were wondering if the special guest from a faraway land that they’ve been hearing for days had arrived.

“I don’t see what the big deal ism Carol.” Said a brunette girl wearing a white and red dress, sandals and an orange bandanna on her head. “So some kid is coming to the island to attend the academy. So what? We get them every year.”
“The ‘big deal’, Melody, is that this kid is a real prince where he comes from. He’s going to be the Academy’s first royal student.” Answered Carol. “Need I remind you that you’ll be starting at the Academy as well?”
“I know, sis and I’m really fine with that. I just don’t see why we should be standing here just to welcome some prince. If you ask me, he must be a greedy, spoiled prince.“ Said Melody
“You never know, Melody.” Said Carol.

Soon, the gangplank was lowered onto the ship. Sir Brock and Sir Gary were the first ones to disembark. They both carried a blue banner bearing the kingdom's emblem. As they got off the gangplank, they faced each other and stood at attention. Squire Max then stood at the top of the gangplank and faced the crowd. He brought out a bugle and sounded an announcing tune.

“People of Celesta Island!” He announced. “Hailing from the kingdom of Kanto, the heir to the throne, respected by friend, foe and Pokémon alike. Presenting, Prince Ash Ketchum!”

Ash then appeared next to Max and with Pikachu on his shoulder.

“Hey there, Celesta Island! It’s great to be here!” He happily greeted the islanders as he waved.
“Pikachu!” Pikachu greeted while waving as well.

The crowd gave out a loud cheer, and a round of applause upon seeing the prince.

“So that’s Prince Ash, huh?” wondered Carol as she applauded. “He doesn’t look bad to me. He seems like a very nice boy in fact. What do you think, Melody?”

Carol didn’t get a response however.
“Melody?” she asked as she turned to see her sister staring at the prince as he walked down the gangplank. She had her hand on her chin with an interested look on her face.
'On the other hand…' She thought to herself as she gave out a small grin.  'He’s more of a very handsome prince instead. I should definitely have a closer look at him later.'

As Prince Ash, Sir Gary and Squire Max are enjoying being greeted by islanders welcoming them to their home, Sir Brock however was at his usual habit of flirting with every beautiful girl that he could see.

“There’s not a single flower or plant on this island that can hold a candle to that beautiful face of yours!”  The lovesick knight moaned to a confused blonde. “It would mean o so very much to me if we could discuss this over a cup of tea!”
“Croa-gunk!” The Toxic Mouth Pokémon said as he came out of Sir Brock’s pewter colored Pokégem and poison jabbed his trainer’s gut.
“GAH!!!” Brock exclaimed in pain as he crumpled to the ground.
“And maybe WE should discuss your weirdness.” groaned an annoyed Max as he dragged the knight away by his left leg while Croagunk hauled Brock’s right, leaving the girl confused while Ash and Sir Gary nervously chuckling.

Ash then hears a girl’s voice from behind.
“Hello, handsome. So you’re the prince everybody’s been talking about, huh?” She said.
Ash turned to see the brunette, who was taking a good look at him.
“Uh…” Was all Ash managed to say before he sees the girl forming a satisfied smile on her face.
“I guess you’ll do. The name’s Melody and here’s your Traditional Welcome Kiss.” She said teasingly before she planted a kiss on the prince’s cheek.
The kiss surprised not only Ash, but Pikachu, Gary, Max and especially Brock who recovered in time to see the kiss, which made him extremely jealous and upset.

“Uh… what do you mean, I’ll do?” Asked Ash as he regained his senses.
“Oh, you’ll find out what I mean one day. See you around, cutie.” She cooed as she turned around and started walking away. She faced Ash again and gave out a wink and a wave before she left.
“What was that all about?” Ash muttered in confusion as he and the others watch her walking away from them.

The boys then heard the voice of a woman from behind them.
“Excuse me, Prince Ash?” She asked.
The boys turned to see a young woman with orange eyes, magenta colored hair and wearing a white robe.
“Yes ma’am, that’s me. May I help you?” Ash responded politely.
“Hello, my name is Cosette." She greeted with a smile and a bow. "I am one of the Headmaster’s assistants. He sent me here to escort you to the academy at once.”
“Really? Well then, lead the way.” Said Ash.
“Yes. If you’ll please follow me.” Said Cosette.

After Brock returned Croagunk back into his Pokégem, the group then followed Cosette to a carriage that is pulled by two Zebstrika at the town square. Ash helped the knights load his large trunk on the top of the carriage which was brought to them from the Legacy’s cargo hold. Once the boys boarded, Cosette then sat next to the driver and the carriage began to move and out into the outskirts of town.

Back at the Legacy, Pichu Big was looking at his surroundings to make sure nobody was close by as he peered through one of the portholes of the cargo hold.
“All clear, guys.” He announced. “Let’s move out!”

He, his brother and the rest of the Pichu Posse climbed out of the porthole and jumped onto the docks. They then quickly made their way to the nearest alley they could find without anyone noticing.

“I don’t think anybody saw us.” Panted Teddiursa.
“Good, I don’t wanna know what would happen if the captain found out that he had us as stowaways aboard his ship.” Said Magby.
“So, this is it?" Smoochum asked as she checked their surroundings. “This is the island where we’ll be staying for two years?”
“From the way that crowd cheered for the prince, this must be it.” Said Tyrogue.
“Well Pichu Bros, now that we’re here, what’s the plan now? Do we follow Mr. Pikachu?” Teddiursa asked as he and the others faced their leaders.
“No, not yet.” Answered Pichu Big. “The first thing we need to do is look around the town and find a good place to set up our new clubhouse.”
“We’ll have to find a place somewhere in town where nobody would think of going to. That way, nobody will bother us.” concluded Pichu Little.

The Pichu Posse nodded in agreement knowing that it’s best to find a good place to call home if they’re going to stay on the island for some time. Finding Pikachu will have to wait.

“Well, what are we waiting for? Let’s find a good spot for our new clubhouse!” Cleffa exclaimed with a cheerful expression.
“YEAH!” The others cheered. And with that being said and done, they went off to explore the town to find a suitable spot for their new home.

Unknown to the Pichu Posse, they were being watched.

Standing on a rooftop over the alley, two small shadowy figures have been watching and eavesdropping on the newcomers that came to their island home.

“Looks like we’ve got some new faces.” Said the first figure.
“Do you think they’re friendly?” The second figure asked in curiosity.
“I’m not sure.” The first replied. “They seem kinda nice, but let’s not make friends with them just yet. We don’t even know who these guys are.”
“Then what do you think we should do?” Asked the second.
The first figure thought for a moment before giving out an answer.
I say we should keep an eye on them for a few days. From the looks of things, these newcomers might be here for a while. We’ll spy on them for a bit, check to see if they’re not here to become bullies and if they seem nice, then we’ll both go out and meet them.”
“Good plan.” The second figure complimented. “I sure hope these guys are nice enough for you and me to be friends with them."
“Yeah me too.” The first replied. “But for now, let’s keep an eye on them starting tomorrow.”
“Right.” The second said before they left the rooftop.

Meanwhile, at a desolate beach away from the docks, Team Riot has finally pedalled ashore on their Relicanth-shaped boat, much to their relief. They crawled up to shore and laid themselves on the sand, unable to feel their legs from pedalling for days.

“At last!” Jessie said out of breath. “I never thought that ship would actually find this place!”
“I just can’t go on! My legs feel like jelly!” Groaned James.
“What say we forget about catchin' Pikachu for a little while?” Suggested Meowth. “After all dat pedallin', I’m in no mood to steal even a ball of yarn.”
“Agreed.” Jessie and James replied with exhausted enthusiasm. After pedalling for five whole days following the Legacy to Celesta Island, Team Riot figured it’s best that they should rest for now before finding a secluded location on the island to set up their hideout.
“We’re dozing off again!” They all said before they drifted off to sleep.

Elsewhere, Jigglypuff had set her raft ashore as well. She was very eager to find a crowd and sing to them as soon as possible. Excited, she went off to the forest to practice her solo before she could consider finding an audience.

As the carriage drove up the path towards the academy, Ash and his friends took the time they have admiring the island’s scenery as they rode.
“This island is far bigger than I thought it’d be.” Sir Brock said.
“No kidding.” Agreed Sir Gary. “There sure are a lot of Pokémon roaming around the place.”
“All these Pokémon remind me of the ones we have back home.” Said Max as the watch a several Combee buzzing over a field of flowers with a group of Budew, Roselia and Roserade, which reminded them of Sir Drew’s Roserade.
“So your majesty, what do you think of the island so far?” Asked Brock.
“Honestly, I’m already loving the place.” Said Ash. “I’ll bet the academy will really be amazing once we get there. What do you think, Pikachu?”
“Pika!” Pikachu replied with an excited squeak.
“Well, you don’t have to bet for much longer, cause we’re here!” Said Gary.

The four were in awe as the carriage approached the large castle. The architecture was entirely different than that of Pallet Castle back at the kingdom. It was ten stories high and looked magnificent in the light of the sun. The carriage soon slowed down and came to a stop in front of the academy’s large iron doors.
It was engraved with eighteen different symbols. Ash guessed that they represent the eighteen types of Pokémon since some of them resembled a flame, a drop of water, a leaf, a lightning bolt, a boulder, a snowflake, a fist, a wing and an eye. The other symbols on the doors were very hard for Ash to figure out which types they represent.

Standing at the foot of the doors is another woman with long blue hair, glasses over her green eyes and an aqua robe. Standing next to her is a man with long black hair, some fuzz on his chin, blue eyes and wearing a navy colored robe that looked much fancier than the others.

“Hello, Prince Ash. Welcome to Celesta Island and welcome to the Academy Of Pokémon Sorcery!" The man greeted with a smile and a bow before he introduced himself. "My name is Augustine Sycamore, the academy’s headmaster.”
“Thanks.” Ash replied as he bowed back before shaking Sycamore’s hand. “It’s an honor to be here.”
“The honor is mine.” Said Sycamore.
“And this is my partner and best friend, Pikachu.” Said Ash as he introduced the Electric Mouse on his head.
“Pika Pikachu!” Pikachu said excitedly.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you.“ Said Sycamore. “And who are these boys with you?”
“Hi. I’m Sir Gary, one of the royal knights.” Said Gary.
“And I’m Sir Brock, the Captain of the Knights.” Said Brock.
“And I’m Max, the squire.” Said Max.
“Well, It’s nice to meet all of you.” Said the Headmaster as he shook all of their hands. “I’m sure you’ve already met my assistant Cosette. Sophie here is my other assistant.”
“Hello.” Sophie greeted kindly.

Normally, Sir Brock would swoon and flirt on how beautiful Sophie and Cosette are, but he didn’t want to risk being jabbed by Croagunk again, or having the squire pull him away by the ear, so he decided to control himself just this once for the sake of his ear and gut.

”To be honest your majesty, I didn’t expect you to arrive so soon.” Said the headmaster.
“Please sir, just call me Ash.” The prince said politely, not wanting to be formal before asking with a confused face. “And why didn’t you didn’t expect me here so soon?”
“Well, the truth is... you actually arrived before term even started. It doesn’t start until next week.” Said Sycamore.
“Next week? You mean, nobody isn’t even here yet? Asked Max. “Not even any of the teachers?”
“Only two of the teachers are here at the moment. They’ll be here in a few minutes. The rest will arrive along with the rest of the students.” Sycamore said.
“Wow. To think, I got so excited to come all the way here and learn to become a Pokémon Sorcerer, only to find out that I’m a week early.” Ash chuckled as he rubbed the back of his head in embarrassment.
“Yes, but I admire such enthusiasm in you, Ash.” Complimented Sycamore. “I can see a bright future ahead of you once you become a Pokémon Sorcerer.”
“Thank you, sir.” Ash said feeling flattered and the headmaster’s comment.

Suddenly, a large shadow loomed over the group alerting the group. Sycamore and his assistants however, appear to be calm and seemed to know what’s going on.
“Look up there!” Max shouted as he pointed up.
Ash and the knights looked to where the squire was pointing and gasped at what was standing at the roof.

Standing next to one of the towers stands a large and terrifying looking Garchomp. It stared down the entire group, wondering who these newcomers are. With incredible speed, the Mach Pokémon leapt off the rooftop and into the air. The boys were amazed at how it could leap at such a great height. It then landed its feet on the ground and right in front of Ash and Pikachu, startling them. It moved its head closer to Ash in curiosity as if it was inspecting him.

“Sire!” The knights shouted as they rushed to prince’s side and stood facing Garchomp with both their swords and Pokégems drawn out. Max stood behind the knights hoping if he could be of any help. Their actions caused Garchomp to tilt its head in confusion.

“No need to be alarmed!” Sycamore said as he waved his hands. “My Garchomp doesn’t mean any harm.”
“You mean, this Garchomp is yours?” Asked Sir Gary.
“Yes. She has been my lifelong partner and companion.” Sycamore answered.
“So this Garchomp is a girl.” Said Max. “But why was she staring at Prince Ash like that?”
“Garchomp is very affectionate.” Said Sycamore. “She really loves being around people and making new friends. She has really been looking forward to meeting the prince when we received the letter of his reply of our invitation. She must’ve figured out who he is just by staring at him from the roof. Isn’t that right, Garchomp?”
“Gar Gar” Garchomp happily replied as she nuzzled her head against Ash's and licked his cheek in affection, making him chuckle.
"Nice to meet you too, Garchomp." He said.
“Go ahead and pet her if you like. She really loves it.” The headmaster offered.
“Really?” wondered the prince.
He placed his hand on Garchomp's head and gently stroked her. Just as Sycamore said, Garchommp enjoyed being petted as she growled in delight and licked the prince again in affection. This made Ash smile as he always enjoyed seeing a happy Pokémon. The others then took their turns petting and being licked by Garchomp and enjoying it all the while.

“Wow, we have Garchomps back home, but they are rarely seen in the mountains.” Said Ash. “I do have a Gible though.”
“Is that so?” Asked Sycamore. “May I see it?”
“I’ll do better, I’ll show you ALL of my Pokémon!” Ash said.
“So will we!” The knights said as they withdrew their swords.

Ash, Brock and Gary tossed their Pokégems in the air and the lights that came out of them materialized into a vast horde of Pokemon. Sycamore and his assistants were both amazed and impressed at what Pokémon the prince and the knights have. They were also impressed at how well they’ve raised their Pokémon, though they were very shocked at the fact that the prince has an actual Aerodactyl with him. When they asked how he’d managed to actually catch one, he told them that it’s a long story. Honedge even took the time to act like a gentleman and kiss Sophie and Cosette's hands, like he did to the handmaidens and Queen Delia back at the kingdom the day he was caught. Both women felt flattered of the sword Pokémon's politeness.

As he continued admiring their Pokémon, something large and slimy suddenly smothered atop of Sycamore.
“Sorry, headmaster.” Ash apologized. “My Muk really loves people and it looks like he really likes you as much as me and Counselor Oak back home.”
“Muk! Muk!” The Sludge Pokémon said in delight as he smothered his slimy body over Sycamore.
“Well, I’ve never met such an affectionate Muk in my life.” Sycamore chuckled as he crawled out from under Muk.

Suddenly the group heard a very loud scream. Though it startled everyone, it didn’t sounded like a scream of fright or even distress. In fact, it sounded more like a scream of delight and excitement. Before anyone could even register where it came from, a green blur zoomed past Ash and his friends, causing them to spin like Hitmontops.

By the time they recovered, they see a woman with orange eyes half-orange half-black hair wearing a black long-sleeved crop top with a green cloak, brown cargo pants with a black belt and green boots fawning over Ash’s Grass types and Sir Brock’s Ludicolo.

“Eeeeeeeee! What gorgeous Grass types!” She squealed with hearts over her eyes.
Ash and his friends stared and gawked in befuddlement at the woman’s odd behavior in confusion while Sycamore and his assistants merely sweat dropped.

“Ash, I’d like you to meet Gardenia." Sycamore said as he introduced the woman. "She will be one of your teachers in Grass type spells.”
“Pleased to meet you, ma’am.” Ash said politely as he extended his hand out. Gardenia however zoomed towards Ash as her eyes sparkled.
“Are these Grass types all yours?” She asked excitedly as she got up real close to his face.
“Uh… all but the Ludicolo.” He stuttered nervously. “He belongs to one of my knights. You like them?”
“Oh I love them! They’re all so adorable! Especially this one!” She responded in a squeal as she grabbed Ash’s Snivy and gave her a bone-crushing hug.
“Sniiiiiivvvyyyyyy.” Snivy angrily gritted through her teeth as she tried to use her Vine Whip to push Gardenia away but to no avail.

“Oi! Control yourself Gardenia!” Sounded a voice from behind.

The group turned to see a slightly bald man with one patch a purple hair that sticks upright and purple eyes. He wears a black cloak with yellow strips around the neckpiece and ends of his sleeves. He also has purple pants with black shoes.

“Honestly,” He spoke in an English accent. “You really need to calm down around Grass types.” He then faced Ash and his group with a grin. “Allo, lads! I take it that one of you blokes must be the new royal student from afar am I right?”
“Yes sir, that’s me.” Ash responded as he shook the man’s hand. “My name’s Ash Ketchum, Prince of the Kanto kingdom, and this is my partner, Pikachu.”
“Pika!” Pikachu greeted.
“Pleasure to meet you both.” The man said. “I’m Sidney. I’ll be one of your teachers in Dark type spells.
“Great! I can’t wait to learn from you!” Ash replied excitedly.
“So, you’re excited to learn everything you can here are you? You have spirit, boy! I like that!” Sidney said as he chuckled at the prince’s enthusiasm. “And I see you’ve got a fine looking Scraggy and Krookodile with you. They look fantastic!”
Scraggy and Krookodile both grinned at Sidney’s compliment.

Gardenia meanwhile was enjoying a ‘massage’ using Sceptile’s Bullet Seed when she begged him to do it much to the Forest Pokémon’s embarrassment.

“Mmmm! This feels great! Thank you, Sceptile!” She said excitedly as she faced Sceptile with a wide smile and gave him a big hug.

Sceptile blushed in embarrassment as he ceased his Bullet Seed and scratched the back of his head. Gardenia then noticed something on Sceptile’s neck. It appeared to be a collar with a familiar round object embedded in the center.
“Is that a Mega Stone?” She wondered out loud. This got the immediate attention of Sycamore.
“Mega Stone?!”  He responded in a very surprised tone.
“Yes, headmaster. It looks like that this Sceptile is capable of Mega Evolving.” Said Gardenia.
“Let me have a look.” Sycamore said as he went over to Sceptile and inspected the Sceptilite on the collar. As he looked at the stone, his eyes widened and a smile appeared on his lips.
“This is incredible!” He exclaimed.
“Sir!” Sophie called out It appears that this Charizard is also capable of Mega Evolving!”
“And this Heracross as well!” Cosette added.

Sycamore then inspected the Mega Stones on Ash’s Charizard, Heracross, Glalie, Sir Brock’s Steelix and Sir Gary’s Blastoise. (Author’s note: Just picture in your head the perfect spots to put the Mega Stone accessories on the other Pokémon besides the ones that were already shown in the anime.). Ash and his friends could clearly see that Sycamore has a high fascination on Mega Evolution.

“You seem to be very interested in Mega Evolution, sir.” Sir Gary commented.
“Oh yes.” Responded Sycamore. “Besides being the headmaster of this academy, I’m also a researcher on Mega Evolution. I study Mega Stones, the different forms Pokémon change into when they Mega Evolve and their increase in power and abilities. I hope there are other Mega Stones in the world just waiting to be discovered. My Garchomp is also capable of Mega Evolving as well." He finished as he revealed the Mega Ring on his wrist.
The boys took notice of Garchomp, who was playing with Ash's Gible wearing a neck accessory with a Garchompite embedded in it.
"Wow. That's very impressive." Gary complimented.
"Thanks." replied the headmaster.
“Well, Prince Ash here just recently found a new Mega Stone days before we left home.” Said Max.
“He did?!” Sycamore exclaimed in shock.
“Yes sir.” Ash replied. I have it with me right now as a matter of fact.”
“May I please see it?” Sycamore asked with much eagerness in his eyes.

Ash sees that Sycamore really intends to inspect the Mega Stone that he found in the mountains. He doesn’t see any harm in showing it to him. He might even help out in deducing which Pokémon the stone is meant for.

"Sure. I don’t see why not.” Ash said as he dug into his satchel and brought out the mysterious violet, dark gray and black Mega Stone from the mountains and handed it to the headmaster.
“Fascinating!” He said as he inspected the stone. “I’ve never seen a Mega Stone like this before. Where did you find it?”
“I found it inside the mountains back home.” Said Ash. “It’s a long story. I was wondering, you think you could figure out which Pokémon the Mega stone is for?”
Sycamore then smiled at the prince’s request. “Absolutely. Though it may take some time, I’m sure I can figure it out.”
“Thank you, sir.” Ash said gratefully. “Would you like to see one of my Pokémon Mega Evolve?”
“Perhaps some other time, thank you.” Said Sycamore. “I think right now would be a good time to give you a tour of the academy and show you to your dorm room.”
“Ok, that’s a good idea.” Ash replied. He along with his knights then recalled all their Pokémon back into their Pokégems and followed the headmaster and his assistants into the castle to commence the tour while the teachers left for their rooms to continue their preparations for the start of term.

“Well Pikachu, this is it. Our new home for two years.” Ash said as he looked around his room.
“Chu.” Pikachu replied with a nod, marveling his new surroundings.

After touring the entire castle from all the classrooms, the library, the headmaster’s office, the hospital wing, the courtyards, the great hall to the stadium where students can have Pokémon battles, Ash was finally lead to the seventh floor of one of the boys dormitory towers.

He was given a nice room that included a bed, a shelf that he used to store all of his favorite books that he took with him from home and a window that overlooks the town. A door that lead to his own bathroom, a nightstand and other furniture and decorations. Another door in the room leads to the central room with other furniture and decorations such as couches, chairs, bookshelves, potted plants, vases and paintings. A large window leads to a balcony outside and a wood burning fire pit stood in the dead center of the room, providing a comfortable warmth. There were five other doors that lead to rooms identical to Ash’s since he was told that he’d be sharing the dormitory with five roommates. Needless to say, Ash was very excited to meet his five roommates. He just hopes that they’re not the kind that would mistreat others and their Pokémon.

Three days have passed since the arrival on Celesta Island and now the time has come for Prince Ash to say goodbye to his friends. Sir Brock, Sir Gary and Squire Max have been staying at the academy’s guest rooms during their stay. Though they've enjoyed their time exploring the academy, they really should get back to the kingdom to resume their duties to Queen Delia. As the last of the cargo was being loaded onto the Legacy, they faced the prince and Pikachu, ready to say their goodbyes.

“Well your majesty, I guess this is it.” Said Sir Brock.
“So it would seem.” Ash replied.
“Are you going to be okay staying here for two whole years?” asked Brock
“Don’t worry, I’ll be just fine.” Said Ash. “Besides, I’ve got Pikachu and the rest of my Pokémon with me.”
“You’re right." Said Brock. “Well, I wish you luck on your studies, your majesty.”
“Thanks, Brock.” Ash said as he shook the knight’s hand. “And tell everyone that I’ll write to them at least twice a month.”
“Will do. Take care… Sorcerer Ash.” Brock said with a grin.
“You too, Sir Brock.” Replied the prince.
Sir Gary then shook Ash’s hand before taking off his hat and ruffling his hair.
“Try not to slack off on your work Prince, Ashy boy.” Gary teased.
“Knock it off, Gary!" Ash retorted back with a laugh. “I won’t if you and Brock promise to protect mom and everyone else back home with the rest of the knights.”
“You can count on us, your majesty.” Gary assured in a confident tone. “We swear that we’ll protect the kingdom with our lives.”
“That’s the spirit.” Ash said.
He then bent down towards Squire Max, who had a frown on his face.
“Hey, Max.” he began. “You’re not sad that I’m staying here for some time are you?”
“Only a little, sire.” Max muttered with a sigh. “It’s just that, things wont be as much fun back home without you.”
“Don’t worry.” Ash assured as he place a hand on the squire’s shoulder. “It’ll be alright. Just work hard, keep up with your training and I’m sure that by the time I get back home, you’ll be a full fledged knight.”
Max however still didn’t seem moved by the prince’s words. Ash thought for a moment before knowing just how to cheer him up.
“Listen Max, when you become a knight, you’ll also be a Pokémon trainer by then, right?” he asked.
“Right.” Max said.
“Then how about this, when I get home and when we see each other again, how about we have a battle? Just you and me?” Ash offered.
Max’s eyes lit up with hope as he gave out a smile.
“You mean it?” he asked.
“Definitely.” Ash said with a promising grin. “Right, Pikachu?”
“Pika pika!” Pikachu squeaked with delight as he held out a paw for Max to shake while Ash did the same.

Max looked at their faces for a moment. He knew that Ash made many promises and never breaks a single one. Once Ash makes a promise or an oath, he intends to keep it no matter what. With a wide smile, Max held out his hands and shook Ash’s hand and Pikachu’s paw.

“It’s a promise!” He said with confidence.
“That’s the spirit!” Ash said with pride.

They’ve said they’re goodbyes, boarded the Legacy and soon, Ash and Pikachu stared out to the sea, watching the ship sail west and back home while waving goodbye to their friends, who waved back along with Captain Briney, Peeko and the ship's crew.

Meanwhile, the Pichu Posse were watching the Legacy sail away from the island from a rooftop.
“Well, there goes the ship.” Said Tyrogue.
“And our only ride home for a long time.” Added Teddiursa.
“No turning back now.” Said Magby.
“At least we’ll be having adventures here.” Said Cleffa.
“Just so long as we’re all together.” Said Smoochum.
“Well guys, are we just gonna sit here all day watching the ship sail or are we going to find our new clubhouse spot?” asked an eager Pichu Big.
“You all heard my big brother!” Pichu Little said in a commanding voice like his older sibling. “Let’s get back there and keep exploring!”
“Right!” the others acknowledged and they left the rooftop and sped off to find the perfect spot to claim as their new clubhouse, not knowing the two mysterious figures who were watching them like the other day.

Once the Legacy disappeared in the horizon, Ash gave out a contempt sigh.
“Well Pikachu, I guess there’s nothing left to do but to wait for the rest of the academy to arrive to the island, huh?” he asked his partner.
“Pika Pikapi.” Pikachu replied.
“I’m sure going to miss everybody back home, but we’ll definitely make a lot of new friends here and we’ll see everybody again one day.” Ash said.
“Chu.” The electric mouse agreed.

Prince Ash smiled before looking up at the clear blue sky. He couldn’t help but think that the color seemed rather familiar to Ash. Almost as if he were staring at someone whose eyes exactly matched the beautiful blue color of the sky. The familiar face of a girl with long honey blond hair and a cute smile appeared in Ash’s mind as he stared up at the sky.

“Pikapi?” Pikacchu asked as he tapped the prince’s head with his paw.
“Huh? Wha?” Ash stuttered as he came back to his senses before looking at Pikachu. “Sorry, Pikachu. Just dozed off a bit. How about we head back to the academy and do some training in the stadium?”
“Pi-Pikachu!” Pikachu acknowledged at the suggestion and they went off back to the academy.
'Where did that come from?' Ash thought, wondering about what he was imagining when he stared at the sky again. He shrugged it off and continued his way towards the academy to train his Pokémon.

Now that Prince Ash had finally arrived at the academy, his adventures will soon begin. Who will he meet during his stay? What challenges will he encounter with his new friends when they arrive with the rest of the students and teachers in a few days? Only time will tell.
